This hands on class will cover the basics of building a ground level charcoal fueled blacksmithing forge, useful steel alloys, a brief history of steel, useful steel alloys and recycled sources, tools of blacksmithing, charcoal production, knife blade forging and finishing, heat treatment of steel, shaping and fitting of knife handles from scratch, as well as the instructors theories of knife usage, design and maintenance.
