If you are flying in from far away, Sacramento International Airport is usually one of the more affordable and close options.

To get from Sacramento Airport to Chico, CA, you have a few options. Listed from cheapest – most expensive.
1 – Chico Craigslist Rideshare
chico.craigslist.org, click on “rideshare” near top right-hand corner under “community”.
2 – Greyhound Bus Lines – tickets from Sacramento to Chico are about $25. You will have to get yourself from the airport to the bus station.

Options for transit from Sacramento Airport to Greyhound Station:
Sacramento Regional Transit – most affordable, will take up to an hour to transit. It is not recommended to travel to the Greyhound station on foot late at night.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) – is further away than Sacramento, but sometimes has cheaper flights.
To get from SFO to Chico:

To get from the airport to either Greyhound or Amtrak stations, you can leave directly from the airport on the BART subway system. Very easy and direct, but you may not want to walk to either of these stations late at night.

CIC is a small non-hub commercial airport with daily flights to and from San Francisco provided by SkyWest Airlines in partnership with United Airlines.

OTHER PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS:
There is a Greyhound station and an Amtrak station in Chico in the same building, close to downtown. The station is a “platform only” station – no shelter, no ATM, no kiosk, no bathrooms, etc. You have to buy your tickets online, and once you get there, you will need a taxi to get anywhere else. Fortunately, taxis are pretty cheap here, refer to the ones listed above.
In order to take Amtrak to Chico, you have to be coming from a city that’s further away than Sacramento. Refer to their website for details.
